How the money is made.

Angle: One developer, no employees, AI does the heavy lifting: how a solo maker turned AI photo generation into a six-figure monthly business.

Pieter Levels built PhotoAI, an AI photo-generation product, as a one-person company, and told Lex Fridman how his viral AI website made $150,000 in a single week.

PhotoAI reached $61.8K in monthly recurring revenue with 1,872 paying users six months after its February 2023 launch, and crossed $132K MRR by late 2025, per an Indie Hackers deep-dive case study.

Levels has launched over 40 startups solo, keeps zero employees, and runs PhotoAI on a deliberately simple stack costing roughly $13K a month against about $132K a month in revenue.
